Foundation & Basement Excavation
Foundation and Basement Excavation in Coeur d’Alene
The dig under a house sets the tone for everything built on it. Rogeruethsgarden excavates footings, crawl spaces, and full basements to plan depth and dimension, with the over-dig your forms need and a level, compacted bearing surface for the concrete. From a walkout basement in Riverstone to a footing trench on a tight in-town lot near Fourth Street, we cut it clean and to the numbers.
Why the Bearing Surface Matters
- Concrete wants firm ground. A footing poured on a level, compacted subgrade carries the load evenly instead of settling at one corner and cracking the wall.
- Water is the enemy. We grade the over-dig and set up dewatering when the water table is high, so the basement starts dry and stays dry.
- Rock happens. Kootenai County ground can turn to rock, and the right excavator and technique keep a hard dig on schedule.
Our Process
We file the 811 locate, strip and stockpile topsoil, then open the excavation to plan depth with over-dig for the forms. Any cut 5 feet and deeper is protected with a trench box or benching per OSHA Subpart P. We compact the bearing surface, manage the spoil, and leave the hole square and ready for the foundation crew.
